Introduction: The Publications section of the Afghanistan Sociological Association (ASA) serves as a central platform for disseminating scholarly work, policy-relevant research, field reports, and translated texts that reflect the sociological realities of Afghanistan and its regional context. ASA is committed to promoting academic rigor, ethical standards, and knowledge exchange within and beyond Afghanistan.
All publications adhere to clearly defined academic and editorial guidelines, with select works undergoing peer-review by the Association’s editorial board and affiliated experts.
Publication Categories
Scientific Journal
Afghanistan Journal of Sociology is the official academic journal of ASA, published biannually. It features peer-reviewed original articles, theoretical essays, and critical reviews that contribute to the understanding of social issues in Afghanistan and beyond.

– ISSN registration (in process or indicated).
– Open access with downloadable PDFs.
– Archive organized by volume and issue.
Working Papers
This series includes pre-publication research outputs, ongoing sociological studies, and analytical reflections by ASA members and affiliated researchers. These papers aim to foster academic debate and provide early insights into key findings.

– Not peer-reviewed, but internally reviewed for clarity and relevance.
Books & Monographs
This section showcases full-length scholarly books and monographs authored or co-published by ASA members. These include ethnographic studies, theoretical contributions, and sociological analyses that explore Afghan society from multiple perspectives.

Conference Proceedings
Papers and abstracts presented at ASA-hosted or co-organized conferences, seminars, or roundtables are published here. This section helps document intellectual engagements and interdisciplinary conversations.

Policy Briefs

Translations
ASA is committed to making key sociological works accessible to Persian/Dari-speaking audiences. This section includes high-quality translations of foundational texts, articles, or book chapters, often with critical introductions or commentary.
– Proper acknowledgment of original authors and publishers.
– Original and translated versions available when permitted.
Voices from the Field
This unique section captures lived experiences, field notes, and localized narratives that enrich sociological understanding from below. It includes contributions from researchers, community activists, and grassroots observers.
– Reflective and narrative style encouraged.
– Can include photos, maps, or contextual data.
Submission Guidelines
We welcome submissions from sociologists, researchers, students, and writers with an interest in Afghan society and culture.
General Requirements:
- Languages: Dari, Persian, English (bilingual encouraged)
- Format: MS Word or LaTeX preferred
- Referencing style: APA (7th edition) or Chicago Manual (depending on category)
- Originality: All works must be original and unpublished elsewhere

Peer-review turnaround: 4–6 weeks (for journal submissions)
Note: All accepted submissions will be published under a Creative Commons license unless otherwise requested.
Indexing & Citation
ASA aims to ensure long-term academic access and proper citation of its publications.
All journal articles and selected papers will receive unique identifiers (DOIs in the future).
Recommended citation formats are provided for each document.
Inclusion in databases like Google Scholar, Academia.edu, and institutional repositories is under development.
Search & Archive
Users can browse and search publications using filters such as:

A fully indexed archive of all publications will be maintained for ease of access and citation.
